Oil painting art demonstration Members of the Brigham City Community Center will participate in oil painting with Michael Calles at the center, 24 N. 300 West, at 10 a.m. Attendees will be able to watch Calles work and learn oil painting tips. Senior trip to Utah Symphony Members of the Brigham City Senior Center will attend a Utah Symphony concert as part of “Symphony with Nancy.” There is a $5 transportation cost to be picked up at your door and dropped off at the entrance to the Browning Center. Friday, Sept. 20 Visit to Bear River Massacre Site planned for Seniors Members of the Brigham City Senior Center will take a trip to the Bear River Massacre Site (where a village of Shoshone Native Americans was attacked by soldiers of the California Volunteer) and will depart the center, 24 N. 300 West, at 2 p.m. The cost is $5. The tour will include a visit to the DUP monument, kiosks with a narrative about the tribe and the massacre, and a visit to the hot springs. Main Street, Brigham City, from 5 to 8 p.m. The family-friendly event includes food trucks, music and shopping. Historic Downtown Brigham merchants will be staying open late, many offer an array of classes and activities. This is an opportunity to check out several of the newly opened businesses along the Main Street Corridor including: 3 Goats Gruff, Impulsive Creations, Consignology and the Union Block Marketplace, Homebee, Meraki Gift Boutique and The Vault on Main. Saturday, Sept. 21 Farmers’ Market set The Brigham City Farmers’ Market will be held at the Bill of Rights Plaza, 20 N. Main Street, from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 Veterans benefits review set The Veterans Administration will bring in a veteran services officer to help other veterans review their benefits at Pioneer Care Center, 815 S. 200 West, Brigham City. Saturday, Sept. 28 Dance for Life Suicide Prevention charity gala set Dance for Life Suicide Prevention charity gala will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. at Copper Hills High School, 5445 New Bingham Hwy, West Jordan. Free Community Health Fair The Brigham City Community Hospital is sponsoring a free health fair at Utah State University Brigham City Campus, 989 South Main Street, from 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. There will be free screenings for blood pressure, glucose, blood oxygen and body mass, as well as free flu shots for h2u members (membership is available on site.) Fine Arts Center Wed.-Thurs, Sept. 17-18: Musical auditions for James and the Giant Peach Jr. will be at 6:30 p.m. Children ages 8-18 are invited to audition. The performance will be Dec. 5-9. Saturday, Sept. 21: World of Puppetry Museum will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. A traditional Punch n’ Judy show will begin at 2 p.m. An open mic night will be held at 7 p.m. The event is free to attend, but donations are encouraged.
