Yard and bake sale set for Garland Young Women The Young Women of the East Garland Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a yard and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 14040 N. 5400 West, Garland. Proceeds will go toward the Young Women’s camp. Saturday, June 15 Soup kitchen set chili cook off The Acts Six Soup Kitchen will host its annual chili cook off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at John Adams Park, 600 E. 100 North, Brigham City. Members of the community are invited to attend. Proceeds will go to to the soup kitchen. Concerts and food trucks in the park Free concerts will be held at Watkins Park, 705 W. Forest Street, Brigham City, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Food trucks will be at the park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Performers for the free concerts include: Proclaim, 10 a.m.; Vintage Vixens, 11:15 a.m.; Superintendents of Rock, 12:30 p.m.; Josie Payne, 1:45 p.m.; Vision, 3 p.m. Monday, June 17 Hospital to host annual concert series in the park The Brigham City Community Hospital’s annual concert series in the park will resume for the 2019 season from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Bill of Rights Plaza, N. Main Street, Brigham City. A Bingo fundraiser will be held at 6 p.m. Proceeds will go toward Meals on Wheels. The Red Rooster food truck will be on-site. Tuesday, June 18 Critique Workshop for Writers at the Library The Brigham City Library’s Writing Group will hold a critique workshop for writers at 7 p.m. at the library, 26 E. Forest Street. Friday, June 21 Mad Hatter’s Ball set The Mad Hatter’s Ball will be held at the Box Elder Fairgrounds Event Center, 320 N. 1000 West, Tremonton, with a silent auction and cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner and entertainment at 7:30 p.m. The dinner is $40 per plate or $500 per table sponsor. Persons interested in bidding are to bring their cell phone, as it will be done via mobile bidding. The event is hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Utah. Dress is cocktail attire. Saturday, June 22 Opening day of farmers’ market The opening day of the Brigham City Farmers’ Market will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and will be held every Saturday until Sept. 28. Music and food will be available until 9 p.m. Brigham Suicide Prevention hosts ‘safeTALK’ Brigham Suicide Prevention will host a half-day alertness training, ‘safeTALK,’ from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the prevention center, 33 S. Main Street. The training helps to prepare persons 15 years and older to become suicide alert helpers. The cost is $10. Forest Street, Brigham City, from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Event goers are encouraged to bring binoculars or telescopes, lawn chairs and insect repellent. The event will begin with a social hour at 7 p.m.; Indie folk musician Connor Youngblood will perform at 8 p.m.; and members of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society will teach attendees about celestial body forms at 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by Friends of Bear River Refuge and Box Elder County Tourism. Tremonton City hosts ‘Chalk Affair’ A chalk art contest, ‘Chalk Affair,’ will be held at Midland Square, 50 W. Main Street, Tremonton, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is open to the public and is free to participate (must register) and attend. Winners will receive a Visa gift card. Medical Drive, at 6:30 p.m., going until Monday, July 15. The class will teach single persons what to look for in a healthy relationship. Participants must be 18 years or older. Tuesday, June 25 Tax reform town hall meeting set A tax reform will be held at Brigham City’s town hall meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 435-734-6600. The Utah Legislature’s Tax Reform Task Force will hear citizens and special interests’ concerns about changing how items are taxed in Utah. Saturday, June 29 DUP Jubilee luncheon The Daughters of Utah Pioneers will host the June Jubilee in rememberance of the birthday of Brigham Young at the 7th/River Ward building, 531 N. 100 West. Training for officers begins at 9 a.m., those who should attend include captains, vice captains, secretaries, treasurers, historians, music and lesson leaders. All South Box Elder Company Daughters of Utah Pioneers are invited to attend a luncheon at 10:30 a.m., Constance Huntsman from the International Board will be speaking. Tickets are $5 per person. Fine Arts Center June 15: The World of Puppetry Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum includes puppet play, story time and a small craft. A Traditional Punch ‘n Judy show will be at 2 p.m. Donations are welcome. Open mic night will be at 7 p.m. and is open to any person interested in sharing their talents.
