Thursday, June 20
Trip to Bear Lake scheduled for seniors
            Members of the Brigham City Community Center will take an excursion to Bear Lake, departing the center, 24 N. 300 West, at 10 a.m. The cost is $5 and includes a Dutch lunch.

Mad Hatter’s Ball set
            The Mad Hatter’s Ball will be held at the Box Elder Fairgrounds Event Center, 320 N. 1000 West, Tremonton, with a silent auction and cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner and entertainment at 7:30 p.m.
            The dinner is $40 per plate or $500 per table sponsor. Persons interested in bidding are to bring their cell phone, as it will be done via mobile bidding. The event is hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Utah. Dress is cocktail attire.

Fundraiser for local Brigham City girl
            Ride the Brainwave will hold its 11thannual fundraising event from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Equestrian Center, 2200 W. 11400 South, South Jordan. Ali Herbert, of Brigham City, will have a 'Team Ali' at the event. Ali is 8-years-old and has been fighting leukemia for the last four years. 
            The event will include a 5K run at 8 a.m.; a motorcycle and UTV rallies at 10:30 a.m.; a car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and a kids fair, open all day; and a concert performance by Royal Bliss.

Opening day of farmers’ market
            The opening day of the Brigham City Farmers’ Market will be from 4 to 8 p.m. and will be held every Saturday until Sept. 28. Music and food will be available until 9 p.m.
 
Brigham Suicide Prevention hosts ‘safeTALK’
            Brigham Suicide Prevention will host a half-day alertness training, ‘safeTALK,’ from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the prevention center, 33 S. Main Street. The training helps to prepare persons 15 years and older to become suicide alert helpers. The cost is $10.

‘Stargazing Music and Dark Skies’ event set
            The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge will hold ‘Stargazing Music and Dark Skies’ at the refuge, 2155 W. Forest Street, Brigham City, from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Event goers are encouraged to bring binoculars or telescopes, lawn chairs and insect repellent.
The event will begin with a social hour at 7 p.m.; Indie folk musician Connor Youngblood will perform at 8 p.m.; and members of the Salt Lake Astronomical Society will teach attendees about celestial body forms at 9 p.m.
            The event is sponsored by Friends of Bear River Refuge and Box Elder County Tourism.
 
Tremonton City hosts ‘Chalk Affair’
            A chalk art contest, ‘Chalk Affair,’ will be held at Midland Square, 50 W. Main Street, Tremonton, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is open to the public and is free to participate (must register) and attend. Winners will receive a Visa gift card. The theme for the contest is transcontinental.

‘Avoid Falling for a Jerk or Jerkette’ class series begins
            A free four-session course, ‘Avoid Falling for a Jerk or Jerkette,’ will be held at the Brigham City Community Hospital, 970 S. Medical Drive, at 6:30 p.m., going until Monday, July 15. The class will teach single persons what to look for in a healthy relationship. Participants must be 18 years or older.

Movie in the Park set for public
            Movie in the Park will begin around 9 p.m. (dusk) at Pioneer Park, 800 W. Forest Street, Brigham City, and will show the movie “Trolls.” The event is free to attend and is sponsored by Members First Credit Union. 
 
Tuesday, June 25
Tax reform town hall meeting set
            A tax reform will be held at Brigham City’s town hall meeting at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 435-734-6600. The Utah Legislature’s Tax Reform Task Force will hear citizens and special interests’ concerns about changing how items are taxed in Utah.
 
Thursday, June 27 
Fishing trip scheduled for Seniors
            Members of the Brigham City Senior Center are invited to attend a fishing excursion which will depart the center, 24 N. 300 West, at 8 a.m. The cost is $5 and lunch will be provided. The Department on Natural resources will provide equipment for those who don’t have their own. A valid Utah fishing license is required to participate.

Oil painting art demonstration at Senior Center
            Michael Calles, a wildlife oil painter, will show how to do oil painting art technique at the Brigham City Senior Center, 24 N. 300 West, at 10 a.m. The event is free to attend. Participants will be able to learn tips on how to improve oil painting skills.

Saturday, June 29
DUP Jubilee luncheon
            The Daughters of Utah Pioneers will host Jubilee in remembrance of the birthday of Brigham Young at the 7th/River Ward building, 531 N. 100 West. Training for officers begins at 9 a.m., those who should attend include captains, vice captains, secretaries, treasurers, registrars, historians, music and lesson leaders. 
Following the training session, a program and luncheon will begin at 10:30 a.m. All DUP that are a part of the South Box Elder Company are invited to attend. Constance Huntsman from the International Board will be speaking. Tickets are $5 per person.
 
Fine Arts Center
The Garage band 102summer camp will be held Tuesday-Friday, July 9-12, and Monday-Thursday, July 15-18, for children ages 12-16. The band’s emphasis will be on rock and roll where participants will learn how to create and be a part of a garage band. Proficiency on instruments is not required, but those who play an instrument are encouraged to bring theirs. The band is instructed by Mike Reeder. The cost is $30 for the 8-day camp.
