Webelos Woods adventure camp set
Ten-year-old Webelos Scouts along with a parent of guardian, are invited to attend the “Amazing Animals” themed camp at John Adams Park, 600 E. 100 North, Brigham City, beginning with registration at 5 p.m. on Friday. Activities and events will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Dinner is included. On Saturday, activities and events will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The cost is $10 per scout and $7 per adult. Scouts attending both days will pass off over 50 items from 13 Webelos and Arrow of Light requirements. Scouts are encouraged to bring a jacket, flashlight and water bottle.

Local ballet company hosts suicide prevention performance
Dance for Life, Suicide Prevention and Good Mental Health will host the first Swan Lake Community Ballet directed by Dream Pointe Ballet Company at 7 p.m. at Ogden High School, 2828 Harrison Blvd. Dancers are students of public schools in Northern Utah School Districts participating in the Dance for All Program, providing free ballet training to students without the financial

Critique Workshop for writers set
The Brigham City Library’s Writing Group will hold a critique workshop for writers at 7 p.m. at the library, 26 E. Forest Street, Brigham City. At the workshop, writers will have the opportunity to get feedback on their work and to critique the work of others. Information about how many pages authors may bring will be sent out before the event.

Brigham City Fine Arts
May 17: Music in the City will be held at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Limited seating, contact the Fine Arts Center for reservations. The event is sponsored by Excellence in the Community.
May 18: The World of Puppetry Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Puppets from 15 countries will be on display, along with several interactive activities. Admission is free. A traditional Punch ‘n Judy show will be held at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
May 20: On Monday, May 20, The Salt Lake Opera Company is coming to the Fine Arts Center to premiere four “10 minute operas” commissioned to commemorate the wedding of the rails. These Opera vignettes include set props and choreography with songs being performed by Utah Opera Resident Artists. These resident artists all have master’s degrees in vocal performance, are young energetic opera professionals in the early years of their professional careers, and hired to also offer inspiring programs to school children. Sponsored in part by Spike 150 and Excellence in the Community, there is no admission fee for this exciting program, but seating is limited and reservations are recommended.
Tickets for seating can be reserved at utahopera.org/scheduling/ Cultural festival. The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the program starts at 7:30 pm.
May 25: A chalk art competition will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in downtown Brigham City near Christensens, 75 S. Main Street. Artists will be able to create a 4x6 sidewalk chalk display.
Space is limited, pre-registration is required along with a submission of the intended design. The cost is $20 and includes chalk. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.
Summer camps: Registration for summer camps is now open. Camps are 4 – 5 days a week. Family discounts and scholarships are available for those with financial needs. To register, visit bcfineartscenter.org.
