Monthly diabetes class The Brigham City Community Hospital, 950 Medical Drive, will hold its monthly Diabetes Class at 4 and 7 p.m. in the hospital board room. The topic for the class will be about “Monitoring for better Blood Sugar Control.” The class is free of charge and is open to the public. For more information, call Dianne Curtis at 435-734-4339. Saturday, Feb. 2 Sweetheart dance set for public The Box Elder Lacrosse team will host a sweetheart dance at The Cove at Maple Springs, 1040 Medical Drive, Brigham City, from 6 to 8 p.m. The cost is $15 per couple and is open to the public, no age limit. Monday, Feb. 4 Library to hold Big Buddy Book Time The Brigham City Public Library, 26 E. Forest Street, will host a second Big Buddy Book Time from 4 to 4:50 p.m. The event is for children 5 to 10 years old and will have the Interact Club students from Box Elder High School encourage children to read and use their imagination by playing games and activities. Wednesday, Feb. 6 Library event set The Brigham City Library, 26 E. Forest Street, will host “The American Revolution as a Civil War” as part of its ‘Revisiting the Founding Era’ from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nathan Revis, Ph.D., will speak on the topic. Thursday, Feb. 7 U.S. and Utah history lecture set Utah State University Extension will host a lecture on ‘laying the groundwork for the transcontinental railroad’ from 7 to 9 p.m. at Utah State University-Brigham City Campus, 989 S. Main Street, in the auditorium. Saturday, Feb. 9 Dutch oven dinner and dance The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Posse will host the annual Dutch oven dinner from 6:30 to 7:30 and dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Garland Armory, 72 N. Main Street. For the dinner and dance, the cost is $30 per couple or $15 per person; $5 for children 13 and older; and $3 for children 12 and under. To attend the dance only, the cost is $10 per couple or $5 per person. Tickets are available from any posse member or will be available at the door. Monday, Feb. 11 Family game night at the Library The Brigham City Public Library, 26 E. Forest Street, will host a “Minute-to-Win-it” family game night sponsored by the Literacy Board from 7 to 8 p.m. The event is family-friendly and is free. Tuesday, Feb. 12 Parenting the Love and Logic way class series set Healthy Relationships Utah will host a Parenting the Love andLogic way class series from 6:20 to 8:20 p.m. at Aldersgate Church, 235 E. 850 South, Brigham City. The class is free and will teach parents how to raise responsible kids, end power struggles, teach responsibility and prevent arguments. Brigham City Fine Arts Center Saturday, Feb. 2: World of Puppetry Museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. A traditional Punch ‘n Judy show will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4: Style for girls (sixth to ninth grade) will be held every Monday until March 25, from 4 to 5:15 p.m. at the Center. The class will focus on teaching girls self-esteem, poise, manners, shopping on a budget, posture and more. Friday, Feb. 8: Preschool puppet story time will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and is for children 3 to 5 years old and must be accompanied by an adult. There is a suggested donation of $1 to $2 per child. Saturday, Feb. 9: A paint party will be held at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 and will include supplies, instruction and refreshments. The class is 2 to 3 hours long. Space is limited. To register, call the Center. Open mic night will begin at 7 p.m. The event is family-friendly and a $2 donation is encouraged for participants.
